Basic Crockpot Pulled Pork

Sharing is caring!

A while back, I shared a recipe for basic chicken that could be made ahead and frozen in batches for future meals. Today I am going to share a similar recipe for  basic crockpot pulled pork.

Crockpot Pulled Pork

You’ll start with a good sized pork roast. I would recommend a large pork shoulder or even a Boston butt. Toss in a dice onion and 3 cloves of minced garlic.

Add in 2 tablespoons of all purpose seasoning (I have a recipe for one here) and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.

2 tablespoons of honey

And a cup of wine. (If you are opposed to cooking with wine, you can use 1 cup of chicken broth and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar instead.)

Finally, add in a tablespoon of liquid smoke. Cover and cook on low for 10 – 12 hours or overnight.

After it has cooked, pull the meat out and shred it with 2 forks. Discard any bones or remaining chunks of fat.

This “short cut” meat, can be frozen in portions and thawed out for quick meals anytime. Toss some in a hot skillet, and give it a super fast “sear” and stir in some barbecue sauce. Tadaa! Perfect pork for BBQ Hoagies.

I’ll share a couple other recipes to use this pork with in the near future.
