I love that you can use this as a math curriculum or as a supplement. I have used it for extra practice for my students when they needed a refresher or extra help learning a concept.

I have used Math Mammoth at various times with all three of my children. Each one learns differently from the next (ADHD, dyslexia, math hater) but all three found Math Mammoth easy to use, not too much in the way of problem solving, and very clear on the explanations.

I like it because, besides the reasons given above, it fits our small budget beautifully and I can purchase and download only what I need - instantly. We have used the Light Blue series the most, but when a child needed extra help with a topic it was so simple to buy just the topic they were stuck on and give them that extra help!

Maria's newsletter is always interesting and helpful, too. I would suggest signing up even if you're finishing out your year with a different curriculum so you can see just how talented this lady is at making math understandable.

I have used this curriculum for two years to teach both of my kids. I find it to be a very comprehensive program that explains the why's behind the math. I can't believe that such a good math curriculum can be so affordable. I'm thrilled with Mammoth Math and will stick with it.

Can not speak highly enough of Math Mammoth. This curriculum is super affordable. My son is so into math and he thoroughly enjoys MM. We like the way topics are covered and the layout of the book. The digital format is not my favorite but I got it for cheap during a sale so I really can't complain, but once we finish off the next level we will buy the bound workbook instead, variety is nice and atleast it has it so it can appeal to multiple types of people. The pages aren't cluttered with alot of pictures which may bug some people but my son gets so distracted when there is a lot of unneeded things on a page so it helps us alot. Sometimes if there are a lot of problems I make him do enough to show mastery and then move on so he doesn't get fatigued but otherwise it's perfect. SO glad I found MM, I wasted so much time and money on the wrong curriculum!

This was recommended to me and I recommend it as well. I bought the blue series so we could do it any order and work more on areas they like or are having trouble. So far it has covered the topics well and gives plenty of practice. My one daughter prefers bound workbooks though and I bought the digital format. The pages are not as colorful and don't have as many pictures as some books, which might help keep some kids interested.

I love Math Mammoth!! It completely covers every topic, sometimes with a bit too much repetition for my son. We sometimes had to stop short and move on. Very affordable! I have pdfs and print as we go.

I love that Math Mammoth is so affordable and explains math concepts well. I have used it as supplemental practice for my daughter and hesitate to use it as our sole curriculum because it is mastery based rather than spiral based. It has worked very well for us as a supplement.

Because it is a mastery-based program, and not all students do well with this, here are some thoughts.

- two of my students took a couple years in the program to begin showing the retention I was hoping for when meeting a new chapter they hadn't seen since the year before. The retention began to be LONG TERM, though, rather than short term. And that impressed me. So the time commitment: I think that's just fine. But know that math is a process and this program is excellent. It's okay to stay the course.

- I also just learned a new thing this year. I dog ear pages that seem long and difficult but still important. I also dog ear the review sections at the end of each chapter. Then I do 1-2 problems per day from these sections before going to the new material for the day. I also have no problem letting a child bog down/slow down in a chapter (moving slowly) while flipping to another fresh chapter so there is some speed somewhere.

- I am so impressed with this program. With the little adaptations I make to suit my family (which the author recommends as she knows that nothing is one size fits all), I never ever want to switch. I have used this for four children. My oldest using it went perfectly prepared into Algebra. My next struggles with math, but it absolutely learning. My next two are a year ahead in this and flying through. It suits the slower learners and the quick learners. The skills taught are wonderful. The methods are terrific. The mental acuity and comprehension it creates are fabulous.

Pros
Excellent progressions. Excellent explanations. Problems are true to real life. Problems are interesting. I feel this is an incredibly written program with potential for any child.
Cons
The pages have a lot of writing on them, which is intimidating to most of my students. I solve this problem by using a blank piece of paper, referring myself to the explanation page and going through the new material with my child on the blank piece of pa

I've searched for years to find a math curriculum here in the UK that would help me teach math in a logical structured way. Most resources are designed for schools who follow rigid time scales and seem to be haphazard in their structure with one subject taught one day and another the next without building on knowledge. Math Mammoth has so far proved to be the exact opposite, starting with a foundation of knowledge then building on it. My 10 year old struggled with times tables but in a few weeks completing the light blue multiplication books now knows them by heart. My youngest has also taken to math in a big way since we started using this and has moved up early to 2nd grade. I love that an international version is available so currency and measurement are in pound sterling and metric.

We wasted nearly 2 years using other math programs, thinking my son just didn't 'get it' or like math much.
On a spur, we decided to try Math Mammoth & haven't gone back! I wish we could turn back the clock & take back those first 2 years.

This curriculum is extremely easy to use, once your student is reading well, they can work independently. The topics are covered in a spiral fashion, keeping things fresh & interesting, while still covering the topic well. So well in fact, there are times we skip forward a bit on topics our son picks up quickly. But for topics he struggles with, or students that don't pick up math easily, the amount of coverage comes in very handy! I also love the cumulative reviews, it keeps those previous topics from falling by the wayside & getting forgotten. The quizes, reviews, and tests are comprehensive.

The materials themselves are easily printed in black & white. The worksheets aren't overly busy, but not completely simple either, this keeps kids engaged without being overwhelmed.

Thank you Maria Miller, for all the hard work you've put into this curriculum!

I have a adult son who is mentally challenged and in 2001 he was tested and the said he would never get beyond a 1st grade level. Well it has taken a lot of work but he is not doing 2nd to middle 4th grade depending on the subject. If he likes it he will do well if he doesn't he just ignores it. I have learned to us materials he does not like with ides from subjects he does like. That way it is getting better to teach the things he does not like. He likes the math mammoth and I love that fact because Math is one of his don't like subjects.
Thank you for creating the Math-Mammoth it is working even if it takes me a long time to get things through his head.

We really like Math Mammoth. It's simple and straightforward, but not boring or too easy. I love that I can just print out the next workbook when we need it, instead of having to reorder all the time.

As a former math teacher in the public school system, I have seen a good amount of math curricula that catered to classrooms. As a homeschool teacher, I have tried to find a good math program that fit my children's teaching styles. Being that each of my daughters have very different learning styles, I found that Math Mammoth's ease of use, presentation and coverage of topics, and practice opportunities have met each of their needs...and mine! I like that it is a work-text and it is quite affordable. I have shared Math Mammoth with fellow homeschool moms looking for a good math program, and they are now using it, too!
It's a great curriculum---I highly recommend it to any family teaching multiple grades with a variety of learning styles.

Great for independant learners. If you are not a math savvy teacher, you may need more supplementation so you feel confident in teaching the subject matter, especially in higher grade levels.
The curriculum is extremely thorough and allows more higher level thinking than basic common core.

I have used Math Mammoth as a supplement and appreciated the very clear way of explaining math concepts. It's active and engaging for the student. Rather than reading about what they are going to do, they do the math process in tiny steps that make them feel successful even while they are still learning. (For example, writing a short word a few times to demonstrate multiplication)

I used this curriculum with my two oldest when we pulled them from public school. We were able to fill in the gaps and get both of them to enjoy math again! My oldest is now in advanced placement math in high school and the second is right behind. I really appreciate Maria for her amazing ability to respond so positively. She helped me so much with figuring out a game plan on getting my students back on track. Thank you.

Lots of free samples available online to preview material. I showed those samples to my brother who is a high school math teacher and he said, "This is good, get the program!" We did and we have been very pleased. We like the mental math exercises. My husband is a high school chemistry teacher and is always grieving over the students' lack of math skills. This program is set up to teach math concepts in a logical, methodical way. All math builds on previous concepts so resist the urge to race ahead. It is much better to go a little slower and get a firm foundation. BUT if you do later find there are gaps in your child's understanding, the Blue Series materials are about particular topics (i.e. fractions) so you can easily go back and focus on that area by going right back to the basic concepts of that topic.

There are great suggestions for math games and further resources. My Kindergartner was bored with K math so we just jumped right into grade 1 and he loves it.

Maria Miller actually answers her email so if you have questions, ask. She has been remarkably helpful.
