Happy New School Year!

It is time once again to get ready for a brand new school year. I know there are some moms out there who school all year round or may have already started, but there are still some ways you can get a fresh start today!

At the traditional time of New Year a lot of people like to make resolutions. I sometimes do, and I don’t know if I have ever kept them. I honestly think goals is a better word for me. I think this would be a great time to make some new goals for your upcoming or current school year.

I feel first of all you should make some super easy goals that you could accomplish with your hands tied behind your back and your eyes closed! When I say simple I mean I will feed my family a homemade dinner every day this week. That can certainly mean a frozen pizza, you did heat it up at home! It could even be as simple as getting out of bed in the morning. These goals may seem too simple for many of you. I assure you there are some moms that have a hard time just surviving through the day. This includes me, but that is a different story. My super easy goal for this year is to get out of bed at a decent time in the morning. I have older children who like to sleep in, so I will be aiming for around 8:30.

If you are a mom who feels you need a bit of a challenge, go ahead and make some challenging goals for yourself. These can be goals it might take a bit of time to accomplish. You might want to memorize verses or quotes, get in better shape and maybe even finish a book you are reading. My challenging goals for this year are to exercise every other day and to continue reading through the Bible.

You should think about some fun goals too. These can be anything you think would be fun for you, with your kids, your husband or with your friends. You could plan on baking some cupcakes or going on a field trip to an ice cream shop. Try to keep it simple so you can have a fun time too. Some of my fun goals for this year are to make pancakes at least once a week for my kids. They love pancakes! Maybe I’ll even slip in some chocolate chips. I’m still thinking of a fun goal for myself. I very rarely think of what I want to do. Aren’t all moms like that? But we do need some time for ourselves. That could be one of your goals!

I think just having some goals and writing them down are a great way to see where you are going with your  year and to see how far you have come!

Do you have any goals you’d like to share with us? Whether easy or more challenging ones, we’d love to hear from you!

  1. Thank you so much for this post. It reminded me to make some fun and easy goals. I have already wrote down my son’s academic goals for this year. But I didn’t even think about family and personal goals. Especially ones that may be fun or easy! I understand what you mean about not knowing if you reached your New Years resolutions, I don’t know if I ever reached any I set either. Come on over and check my page out! Later!

  2. Erin, thank you for being writing a guest post for our blog! I love the idea of writing down goals and tracking! I haven’t thought of adding FUN ones to the list… I’m pondering them now! I’m off to visit your blog now 🙂
