HHM Team Member Review…

I was ecstatic to receive the Dive Into Math CD-ROM in the mail. After all, I have dreamed of someone else teaching math to my kids for a long time.

You may feel the same way for several reasons.

1. Math may not be your strong suit and even though you are armed to the teeth with a teachers manual, you still feel ill equipped.

2. You have a hard time communicating with your kids during math because you are speaking two different languages- yours is Math and you have no idea what theirs is.

3. Maybe you’re good at math, (especially your adding and subtracting) but with a houseful of kids also needing your hip self, you find it difficult to juggle all of their subjects.

4.Your husband may like to come home to a sane woman every once in awhile.

5. You need more time because time is money and just like money, time is tight! Right now you currently have a science experiment growing in the toilet and you still haven’t updated your facebook status in like, two hours! Need. More. Time.

6. Maybe you are a working parent, so though you value the benefits of being their teacher, you still need to supplement in certain areas and often times, math is a subject you need to supplement.

Whatever your reason, Dive Into Math is definitely something you should consider. Dive Into Math utilizes Saxon, my favorite math  (I can’t believe I just used those two words in the same sentence!!) curriculum. You place the CD in your computer and Voila! A nice man named Dr. David Shormann, (or whom I like to call The Math Whisperer) teaches your kids math from a Christian world view using a digital white board. You can hear him talking, but do not see him which eliminates a possible visual disturbance for your child if they are prone to being easily distracted. The tutor takes the Saxon lesson and displays examples while he teaches the concept, even referring back to prior lessons as a help. This is clearly an advantage as I can’t recall what happened 15 chapters back (or even 15 minutes ago for that matter) or how it relates to the new concept. Your child can easily back up the lesson if they need to to hear it again and again and he won’t grunt at your child  for rewinding him five times like I grunt after explaining myself over and over. He stays nice the whole time.  🙂

My ten year old daughter is thriving on math with this CD and we have completely done away with me losing my patience due to me not being able to teach the concept in a way that makes sense to her. So, to say Dive Into Math has benefited my relationship with my daughter is an absolute (take note of the math term) yes!

I will definitely use the CD with my up and coming math “experts” and won’t hesitate to order future ones each year as we progress.

Dive Into Math offers this CD for just $50.00. It is well worth my sanity, my daughters joy of learning and the time I save so I can focus on their other subjects. My life just got easier.

You can find them on Facebook too!

  1. While we are doing well with math so far {2nd grade}, I can see how it will grow more challenging the further along we get. I think a DVD would be a nice change of pace and add to what we are already doing. Thanks for the opportunity!

  2. I find math to be so easy and have several children who live, eat and breathe math but Alexis … if she could, she’d wish math off the planet. She struggles with each and every concept.

  3. I would love to win this b/c we are just beginning homeschooling and my daughter is showing a real interest and strong suit in math and we’ll be using Saxon, so this would be VERY beneficial! Thx for the opportunity

  4. Math isn’t known to be my best subject so any help I can get to offer my kids will help us all!!

  5. I would love to win! I have a 3rd grader and a 10th grader. My younger child is ADHD and most of my time is spent helping him. It would be wonderful for my daughter to have the help she needs for her math.

  6. I’ve been using Saxon Math with my children and love it. My girls love seeing the progress they are making as they move through each lesson. As we plan to stay with this curriculum we would love to win a dive cd.

  7. I love some help with teaching math. Teaching math on four different level is quite chalenging, and I would love all the help I can get… Thanks for the chance…

  8. Oh I NEED this! I have one child who loathes math and in turn doesn’t like me very much when I try to teach it to him. I’d much rather have that nice man with infinite patience bear the brunt of his fury at numbers 🙂

  9. Really hoping to win. We have used saxon since kindergarten and my oldest is now beginning 5/4, we will also be doing saxon 1 and saxon 2 in our home this year. I have heard the dive CD is fantastic and math is getting a little tougher.

  10. Oh I need it! Once it leaves simple multiplication I’m lost! I never really ‘got’ math and would live to give Saxon a go.

  11. I have used DIVE into MATH for 2 years now, and I would be truly lost without it! I am learning right along with my kids, in fact I am doing a unit right along with my kids. I am trying to stay a year ahead of them so I can “understand” what they are doing. There is no way I could do it without DIVE.

  12. To be able to have one less subject to have to work so intently with my daughter would help free up my time to work with my son. Plus I am sure that she would love to do her math on the computer.

  13. I would love to win this! We are definitely huge fans of Saxon but some support as the lessons get harder would be a true lifesaver!

  14. Would love to win because I have 3 kids and tend to spend ALOT of time helping my son with his math. Would love a break and for him to actually GET it without my full-time attention on this subject.

  15. My oldest daughter seems to be on a different page than I am. I would love the help that this CD offers. Thanks for the opportunity.

  16. My older two boys are going to be using Saxon’s Algebra 1/2 this year! We’d love to have this learning aid to help us in this journey this year! :-))) We just love Saxon here.

  17. I am entering this drawing because it looks to be a very sound curriculum and I have heard good things about Saxon Math from other homeschoolers.

  18. I need help in math for my son…I get too frustrated at times and he needs lots of patience and practice so this would be great!

    Thanks

  19. I really want this because I am going bald trying to teach my dd algebra. Please help!

  20. I have been looking into Saxon math for us this year and I think it would be an awesome help for my daughter and I. I struggled all through math and hated it. She seems to love it but gets bored with flash cards and such so easily. I agree this would definitely help in the easing of frustration that seems to happen a lot at math time. Thanks, Randie

  21. I will be starting homeschool with my 4 kids next year and will be using Saxon Math (grade 4). With the limited time I have between the kids, any additional help with be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  22. I would love this DIVE DVD. I am a big saxon math fan…we are currently doing Saxon Algebra I and the DIVE DVD would be a great help.

  23. I would love to have one to use for our two little ones. They have special needs and struggle with remembering numbers so it would be wonderful to use with them. Thank you for the drawing. Cathy

  24. I would love to win because this would be the perfect tool to learn along side my daughter and hopefully overcome my dislike of math (I was always good at it but school made me hate it!)

  25. I would love to win this because I suck in math always have and I’m having a hard time teaching it to my child and would love any extra help I can get. He loves math and is very good at it but I can tell he is noticing I’m not equiped to teach it.

  26. I am starting Saxon with my 5th grader this year! I’d love to have the companion DVD!

  27. I have 2 kids that are on different levels 1st and 5 th grade this would help me better balance my time spent if the older one could be taught with out me and i could focus more on the younger one. This would make a HUGE impact on my lil home school family especially since I am soo new at all this. PLEASE and THANK YOU!!!

  28. I would love to win! This will be our third consecutive year to use Saxon math. In fact, we have never used anything but Saxon. I am very pleased with the methods it uses to teach math. But the idea of the CD-ROM sounds like a wonderful new approach. I think my children would really benefit from it! Thanks for the opportunity!

  29. We are starting to home school this year and math is one of the things I am stuck on with my youngest son (10). This DVD would be a great resource.

  30. We are using Dive Into Math right now with Saxon 5/4 – Love it! My kiddo responds great to it and the Christian encouragement from the teacher is a huge bonus!

I would absolutely LOVE to win 6/5 for next year – that would be a wonderful blessing! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  31. I would love to win this program due to I am new to homeschooling a 6TH grader and I hate to admit it but I am math challenged. My husband is the math wizard but works all day and doesn’t have the time to teach when he get’s home. This would be such a blessing not only to my daughter but to my sanity. Good luck to everyone out there. But I REALLY want to WIN this!!! Hugs, Bobbi Jo

  32. Math and I are not the Best of Friends, so to have the opportunity to have someone qualified teach my Children would be FABULOUS!!! =)

  33. this would be such a timesaver! we have used saxon for several years and the kids do very well with it 🙂 with the cd i may only need 4 cups of coffee if someoe else explained math to my kiddos lol

  34. I would love this CD. While my husband is a genius doctor and scientist, I am “math-stupid” and would rather read Don Quixote in Spanish (I’ve actually done that to avoid math). I could use this for my daughters! Middle school math makes my brain hurt!

  35. Math was never my strong suit so being an older mom who has been out of school for many moons, it would be lovely to have a great program for my daughter.

  36. My dd is very smart, but when it comes to math its like we are from 2 differant worlds. She’s just not getting it! I’ve even had the older ones trying to teach her and she looks at us like we are talking Japanese!

  37. This is the recommended math program to supplement our homeschool curriculum of choice (Classical Conversations) and I have been hesitant to try it. We would love an opportunity to try it and review it for our website!

  38. Though I enjoy math, I do not enjoy teaching it. I believe Saxon math to be a good program, and I’d like to actually view the lessons with my child to learn the best way to refer back to former objectives.

  39. I would love to win this because we have been looking for a math curriculum and Saxon math looks like a good fit for us!

  40. I just spent so much time teaching my 5th grader about area, squares, and square roots. I would’ve loved to have someone else do this today! I hope I win!

  41. One of the areas my daughter excelled at (and loved) while in public school was math. Since beginning homeschooling 2 years ago, we’ve seen a decline in both skill mastery and desire. We use Saxon Math because we feel like it’s the best out there, BUT dd is not fond of it. This subject always takes us over an hour to complete. I’d love to receive this CD in hopes that we can regain lost ground with this subject. It’s in her…we just need to find a way to get it back!
**I also shared on Facebook & tweeted! 🙂

  42. We have used (and LOVE) DIVE cd’s for several grade levels! I appreciate them more and more as my children are taking High School level math!

  43. I would love to win this, I have twins in the fourth grade and it would be a great resource tool.

  44. My oldest started using DIVE this year — Algebra II and Chemistry. I would love to know that he has the Advanced Math ready and waiting for him, as I expect he’ll be ready for that far too soon. Before I can afford to purchase it, anyway.

  45. I love, love, LOVE Saxon Math. The CD would help so I can attend to the littles while the oldest works on Math!

  46. I am really good at math but I have a child who struggles. Sometimes he seems to get it then the next day he doesn’t. Lately I’ve decided maybe he needs something (or someone) different to learn from.

  47. We are doing 3rd grade this year and I am trying to make math come alive to her…some days it just feels like it falls flat, so I would love to have an extra resource to stand behind and help fill gaps where I miss it.

  48. WOW! What an awesome giveaway! MY oldest, 4th grader, excels in math that is one area I struggled in forever in school and to look at her she wants more more more.. what a great alternative! THings I cannot give her she could get and still be here at home! We use Saxon Math 54 and love it!!!! Would love to have it!

  49. Love, love, love Saxon math! I used elementary k-4th grade with my oldest boys when they were little & we were homeschooling. The public elementary school they entered also used Saxon math-yay! Now that we are homeschooling our daughter in highschool we are back to Saxon. 🙂 I am totally not a math person and I wanted my kids to have that foundation I missed and Saxon provides that. I would LOVE to win so that we can continue with calculus or physics following Algebra 2.

  50. I would love to win this. My son has a hard time sitting at a desk with a textbook. Hes a more visual learner, and a more interactive program would be wonderful. Swinging extras such as this are an impossibility as a single parent. Thanks for the giveaway. Most awesome!

  51. I love being a homeschool mom. However, 🙂 teaching math to my son has always been a struggle. Haveing help with it would be such a blessing for our family. Thanks for the chance to win!

  52. Would love to win because my daughter is beginning 7th grade and anything that helps both of us with math will help and be appreciated very much. Thank you for the giveaway!

  53. Beginning 4th grade math with my daughter next week…I’m sure she would LOVE to listen to somebody other than mom explain Saxon Math to her!

  54. We struggle with math here. We’ve used Saxon in the past and it’s great. In fact, she is working in Algebra 1/2 right now handed down from my middle daughter. She is doing it on her own.
This would be a Godsend to win!
