Many children love to read, but it can be difficult to find books featuring homeschooled children. I decided to find some books featuring homeschoolers for my homeschooled children, so I thought I’d share them with you! Even though homeschooling is growing, there isn’t yet an abundance of books featuring homeschoolers, but I’m listing here the ones I was able to find. If you have suggestions to add, please leave them in the comments!
Please keep in mind that I have not read all of these books. You will need to decide which books are right for your children. Also, I’ve included the suggested age/grade levels when available. Reading abilities vary greatly from one child to another, so these levels are included only as a guide.

Addie McCormick and the Computer Pirate–The main character in this book is attending a cooperative homeschool while her school is being repaired following a tornado.

Summer with the Moodys by Sarah Maxwell. We enjoyed the free one on Kindle so bought the set in paperback 🙂
I think some of the children in Mysterious Benedict society were homeschooled in later books. And The Beyonders has a homeschooled girl as one of the lead characters.
The Theodosia Throckmorton series is about an unschooled girl who grows up in a museum. She becomes an expert in all things Egyptian and fights along with a secret group to return Egypt’s antiquities to their home with ancient Egyptian magic and spells. http://amzn.to/1P1IS7q
These would probably be more for high-schoolers, but homeschooling mama (and delightfully prolific author) Chautona Havig has homeschooled characters in some of her novels, including the Past Forward series and the Aggie series (which begin with the book Ready or Not).
The Ruby Slippers School Series by Stacy Towle Morgan are about two homeschooled sisters. They are for 7-10-year-olds. My teenager says Tyce in Sigmund Brouwer’s Robot Wars is homeschooled. They are for ages 13 and up. I noticed that Too Smart Jones and the Buried Jewels was listed up above and would like to mention that all of the books in the Too Smart Jones series are about homeschoolers!
I just started writing the Little Green Hill series the first book is Nye In February. It’s ab nature-based series about a homeschooled boy learning about his environment with his animal friends, aimed at elementary-aged kids.
There is a brand new book out called Homeschool PJ Time: A Bedtime STEM Book. All the characters are homeschooled and the entire book was written and illustrated by homeschoolers. You can find it at Amazon or ColbyBooks.com

The Jonathan Park series is great because it has homeschooled character although it’s a radio drama and not a book.
