How to Make Doll Clothes

Because I want to encourage young children back to the wonderful art of sewing, I have designed an online video course which is perfect for teaching children how to sew their very own doll clothes. It has over 130 step-by-step instructional videos covering everything from explaining the different types of fabric, how to use various sewing tools and how to sew basic stitches through to attaching frills and working with elastic. The course also includes 8 free pdf doll clothes patterns with step-by-step video instructions to help get them started!

I've been sewing for years but have never made doll clothes until this past winter. I ran across Rosies Doll Clothes videos on line and bought the DVD set and it has been wonderful. If you've never made doll clothes, they are a bit different then sewing garments as I found out! Rosie shows you every single step to making them and she makes it so, so easy! I'm hooked on her patterns and will be sitting down with my grand daughter soon so she can learn to make them herself and we can enjoy sewing together. She is getting her very own sewing machine soon. The course is very affordable and you can work at your own pace. Rosie is also available if you need help. I would recommend this to any age perso wanting to learn to sew. From young children all the way to grandparents.

I was asked to teach my friend's grand-daughter to sew as part of therapy for an attention deficit disorder which was contributing to low self-esteem and behavioural dysfunction. I have been sewing for many years but wasn't sure how to make the information available and interesting for this child, until I found Rosie's Dolls Clothes. What a blessing! I worked out a schedule, around the course, over several months. The videos are presented in a gentle, engaging manner which the child warmed to and she was able to finish projects at her own pace. She enjoyed it so much that she asked me to use the course to help her to qualify for part of the Prince Phillip Awards where students are given points for self improvement and community activities. I bought her the DVD set so she could refer to it whenever she wanted and her interest has continued. She is about to finish Year 12 and go on to Child Care. I also have 2 grand-daughters aged 8 years and 11 years who are now learning to sew and we are using the patterns and the course at their own pace. I've learned a few tricks along the way, myself. I highly recommend the course, patterns and community Rosie has created.

ROSIES COURSES WERE A GREAT FIND. THE PATTERNS CAN BE USED FOR MANY SIZED DOLLS FOLLOWING THE SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS. THE COURSE PROVIDED MANY HOURS OF ENJOYMENT AS THE GARMENTS WERE SO QUICKLY PRODUCED. THE GARMENTS CONTINUE TO PROVIDE LOTS OF JOY TO LITTLE GRANDCHILDREN. IT IS EXCITING TO SEE NEW PATTERNS AVAILABLE. THE SHORTS CUTS FOR THE DOLLS CLOTHES MAKE SEWING MUCH EASIER. IT WAS FUN USING DIFFERENT MATERIALS TO ACHIEVE SUCH DIFERENT RESULTS FROM THE SAME PATTERNS - EVEN CHANGING THE PATTERNS TO USE WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS.
Pros
CAN DO AT OWN PACE. EASY TO FOLLOW. AUDITORY, VISUAL AND PRINT BACK UP ENSURE THRER IS NO CONFUSION. LEARNING REINFORCED BY HANDS ON PRACTICE.
Cons
NONE
Do you recommend?

Even my then 3 yrs tried her hand at a pair of short, hand sewing off course with massive stitches but it got her interest going and that is sometimes all you need. She is now 5 and can sew on a button with ease and even attempt to fix things for her dollies.
My youngest is 4 and oldest is a 11 year old boy and they are all confident with the basics of sewing thanks to Rosie's Sewing course.
I even have friends kids interested in trying their hand at sewing.
