Our Favorites from last week:

Trish, one of the lovely co-owners here at HipHomeschoolMoms.com had this to say about her picks this week:

“OH MY GOODNESS…. these blogging mamas kicked it into high gear this year! I couldn’t pick just one! Wow, I’m excited to see what is being shared on our Hop each week. If this is the new norm, it’s going to be hard to choose each week!

So here are my favorites this week:

1. This is from one of our own, Sarah from My Joy-Filled Life. She shared story time activities for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, which just happens to be one of our favorites. It brought back some beautiful memories…

2. Kris isn’t one of our own (yet ;-))… but I keep hinting about it! Seriously, Kris from Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers is one of our favorites! She has a great sense of humor and we just love how real she is! At this time of year we are starting to feel a little stir crazy, Kris shares some ideas with us on ways to shake it up a little in her post 5 Tips for Overcoming the Winter Doldrums.

3. I love hands-on homeschooling and I just found a new (to me) blog that I’m going to love…. Interactive Homeschooling. D.T. has actually been blogging since 2011, but I’m just meeting her! She wrote a great article about her interactive and edible unit study on plant cells! I love the cake! What a yummy way to study botany!”

This good-enough-to-eat unit study is also HHM Team Member, Kelli’s (Adventures in ChildRearing) pick of the week!

Another HHM co-owner, Leann (The Hands-On Homeschooler) has also chosen three favorites:

1. The Heart of Michelle – How to Develop an Appreciation for Art in Your Home-school

“I struggle with finding a way to add in art appreciation, and I LOVE the ideas she mentions, especially her ways to add in artist studies. Very Charlotte Mason, but at the same time, some new ideas that I’m not currently doing!”

2. Fun Resources to Learn About American Presidents – Starts at Eight

“This post is perfect timing, as I’m prepping lessons for Presidents’ Day next month!”

3. The Sunny Patch – Homeschooling with Interest-Led Science: Rocks & Minerals

What kid doesn’t love rocks?! Here’s some great hands-on ideas for studying rocks in your homeschool!

Taunya from Walking with Shiloh appreciated the post Diagramming? Sentence Analysis? What’s That?? shared by Teaching from a Tackle Box.

Tauyna said, “I never did understand or like diagramming sentences in high school. I think it may have been easier if this post was around then.”
