We have tried several other History curricula over the past 3 years. My Children are ages 9-10-13, they chose Life Pacs over the others because of the learning style. I like it because they work independently for the most part. You also have other assignment ideas for further study in the teacher manual. You have the choice of getting as in depth as you want with each booklet. I will say, I decided to put my kids in a grade level above because they were flying through the work.

Some of the questions have unclear answers for, I ditched the manual and we just use the workbooks randomly that we have for science to compliment what we are doing. I could never do this as a full curriculum, would be good for a family who is Christian and want a rigid, structured program with every laid out and have no problem doing workbooks all day.

If you are in a season of schooling that you have to use workbooks, then lifepacs are good. Otherwise, skip them. My kids found them really boring, and my A student could finish a lifepac in a few days, not weeks! These will get the job done, it just will not be much fun.

If you like the workbook style with independent work its great. We used the Bible Lifepac's it just couldn't keep my boys attention. They would have an explanation section Bible reading section then questions. We are going to try a new Bible curriculum next year.

This might be a beneficial curriculum for students needing to learn at a slow pace.

Pros
It was easy to manage and complete.
Cons
This program was not academically challenging in the least. My daughter was bored to tears. Alpha and Omega has some wonderful curriculums but this is not one of them.

I used this curriculum as a Bible class supplement. I was surprised how basic it was for 3rd grade. I was hoping for a more in depth study of the Bible. It encouraged bible verse memory which I believe is necessary in a Bible curriculum.

If your kids likes workbooks then they will like LifePac. I used them the first year I homeschooled and it worked for us, but it wasn't the greatest. I loved that it was all together my first year when I had no idea what I was doing.

I chose this curriculum because it was all-in-one and I thought it would make homeschooling easier. It was nice to have the teacher guides and student workbooks come in one boxed set, but this curriculum just wasn't the right fit for my homeschooler. The curriculum was not interesting enough to keep my daughter's attention and she really didn't like sitting and doing all the book work.
