I did this with my son when he was in K and we loved the expirments! The only problem is that there are a lot of words on each page so it requires a parent to read or parents can get the audio CDs.

this was a favorite. We scheduled the chapters to coincide with the time insects would be most observable and birds would be visiting feeders/nesting so we could add nature study. Students learned and retained much with this study.

I prefer secular curriculum, however this is extremely engaging and was very surprised to find my 6 year old devouring it. She is now a "birder" and just loves me reading the text to her out loud every day, working on her journal and her birding notebook. Has turned into a fun project for us.

Some things are a bit much for her age, so we just breeze on by and focus on what catches her attention, which is 80-90% of the book.

We were able to jump around and take the textbook with us on the go. It was really nice having one single book full of all of the info. We didn't do many of the projects and hopefully we'll get through the entire book next year. We used the note booking journal as well which saved me a ton of time and headache!

We loved all of her series. We didn't do much projects due to time. However we learned a lot and had fun learning. :D My kids were able to read on their own and do the workbook. It did take a while to figure out the blocks and pages for writing. It was a struggle at first. All in all we love the series. :D

This is our second year for using Apologia science.
My son loves to read the information in the text book and complete the journaling.
I have seen him engage himself in the reading and process the information for better understanding of the subject.
The pictures have kept his interest as well.

Very happy and delighted to use the Apologia Science books!

Our children have really enjoyed this study this year. Even our kindergarten student listens in to the reading and shares what he remembers from each lesson.

We just started using it and we are going to finish it up next year. I bought a field guide and lapbook packages to go with it. I like the details and look forward to expanding the sections and going more in depth next year. I like the apologia science line.

This is the first year my daughter has read her science independently. We always make our own notebooks to aid in retention. Most of the projects were simple and easy to complete. We just picked a few to complete during the year as many were seasonal and we had already done some of them.

This was a fun curriculum, but the time needed to do the projects was just too much for us at that age. My daughter has some learning delays which causes her to work at a slower pace so the curriculum became very time consuming.

We have used Apologia Science through 7th grade. This was the all time favorite because as the children were learning about birds they could also watch them in the back yard and just about everywhere we went. They are still watching birds!

I purchased this text after hearing such rave reviews on everything Apologia. I really, really wanted to like it. However, it simply ended up being too much for my crew. While the experiments and activities are great, there just wasn't enough to keep everyone engaged.

The elementary Apologia books weren't a big hit in this house, but I think this one was our favorite of them. We had far more luck using them out of order than just blanketly doing one a year. Such as do the insect chapters, then perhaps the mammals in Sea Creatures, then back to bats, and such.

This is a great book for early elementary. By about 4th grade it they could easily complete two books a year, and by 5th this particular book simply wasn't meaty enough to satiate them.

We have reviewed Apologia science through online or through library and we are budgeting to get it. I have read great reviews. I have two daughters 12 and 14 (almost). The 14 year old has many learning disabilities and I am hoping this science will get her engaged in learning at science. So far we haven't had any luck with others
