A Call to Simplicity
Hip Homeschool Moms. A Vibrant Community for Homeschooling Families.
Durenda is a mom to eight (ages 13-27), nana to four, and wife to Darryl for 28 years. She has homeschooled from the beginning (22+yrs) and has graduated 5, so far. Her two oldest girls are married and her oldest son graduated from college at 21. She loves encouraging moms through writing, speaking and podcasting. One of her favorite things is helping parents to slow down, think simply and outside the box so they can homeschool confidently and in a lifestyle that is a great fit for their families.
She has her own podcast (Durenda Wilson) and has published a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling called, "The Unhurried Homeschooler" which encourages parents to take the time to find out what really works for them, let go of self-driven standards and learn to homeschool from a place of peace! She recently published a devotional just for moms. "Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart" can be found on Amazon.
To be honest, I really don’t wear jewelry very often. Like most women today, I have a busy schedule. We’re all working, taking care of children, running errands, doing household chores–the list goes on and on. But, I do like to have a few nice pieces on hand for the occasional night out or those days when…
Have you ever hit that point where you just can’t seem to keep your head above water? Schoolwork seems to be pushed farther and farther out. The dishes are piling up and you’re not sure whether your boys are wearing clean socks or just raiding the hamper. And their shower time? Who knows? You feel…
Easter is such an important holiday in our home, if not THE most important. It’s crucial for our children to know and understand why we celebrate this occasion. That’s the reason I created this Easter Story trivia game. This time of year is not all about the Easter bunny and Easter eggs. It’s the special…
Every kid I know has one, but mine don’t. They think they’re so deprived, but I’m happy depriving my kids on this one. What, you may be asking, is it that my kids don’t have? Some electronic trinket? Something super-expensive? Nope. It’s actually something quite simple. My kids don’t have their own library cards. Are…
We have exciting news! We now have Hip Homeschool Moms T-shirts available! You can see in the photo below that the shirts say “I’m a Hip Homeschool Mom” on the front. The kids’ version says, “My Mom Is a Hip Homeschool Mom.” On the backs of both shirts is www.HipHomeschoolMoms.com. We’ve tried to keep the…
Some children seem to have a hard time dealing with fear, worry, or anxiety. It’s hard as a parent to know how to help our children when they’re in that situation. Tame Your Thought Monster was created to do just that–help children learn to “tame” those fears, worries, and anxieties. We are pleased to be…
