Got Phys Ed? Summer Edition

As homeschoolers physical education can be a school requirement that seems illusive, and maybe even hard to fulfill. I bet, like many, your kids/family get in more physical education than you think, without even knowing it!

As my family and I sat around the dinner table we started brain storming. We listed all the activities we encounter in our normal daily lives that would be considered physical education. Since it is summer, we stuck to things we do during the nice weather months.

We purposely left out organized sports, or anything of a more involved or cost incurring nature. We were surprised at how much there really is, and I think you will be too! Our advice to you for fulfilling a physical education requirement is just to get up, get out, and have fun with your family!

We would like to share with you list of things we compiled, and encourage you to make one of your own. If you come up with others not on this list, please share them with us in the comment section of this post. For those of you that have worried about how to incorporate physical education into your schooling, I think it will be helpful for you to see that even if your children are not participating in some sort of class or organized program, they are still easily able to include physical education in their lives.

  1. Homeschool and P.E. are an interesting mix. Since we homeschool, the children are actually much more physically active than public school students. My children have time each day to run, play, build and explore. They also eat much more healthy than the typical public school student. However, it is hard to make a specific P.E. time with “instruction.” I really like your list, thanks. I’m going to keep these ideas handy and try to make sure I’m keeping things well rounded in our lives and in our activities. 🙂
